OVERVIEW:

The Fallen Rebellion took place 200 years prior to the events in book one. It was led by Shahar, an Archangel who rebelled against Asteri power. Her former lover, Hunt Athalar, commanded her elite 18th Legion into the one and only battle of the rebellion, which took place on Mount Vernon. During the battle, Shahar was killed by her sister, Sandriel, and those who participated were enslaved by the Asteri.

While the rebellion was made up almost entirely of malakim angels, the Sprites also joined led by their Queen. For this reason, the Asteri enslaved the entire species, including those that did not partake in the rebellion. The angels who participated had their wings cut off and displayed in the Eternal Palace. They also had a witch ink tattoo in the shape of barbed wire inked across their foreheads to limit their power, and an "SPQM" tattoo on their wrist to designate them as "property" of the Republic.
