Drop

OVERVIEW:

According to the Asteri, the Drop is an experience that every Vanir must undergo in order to unlock their full powers and gain their immortality. In order to perform the Drop, an individual must "drop" into the depths of their power where they confront their greatest fear. To survive the "drop," they must then "ascend" above it. This process typically occurs in a government facility, and another living being, referred to as an Anchor, is required to help one navigate through the Drop by providing a connection to the real world. If one successfully completes the Drop, they produce firstlight that is then harvested to fuel Midgard.

At the beginning of House of Earth and Blood, neither Bryce Quinlan nor Danika Fendyr has made the Drop. They have made a pact to do it together when they turn 27.
